Apprenticeship Training for Veterans

Apprenticeship Training for Veterans
Epes Transport has partnered with the N.C. Department of Labor for the past 4 yrs in the Apprenticeship Program for Veterans. The Apprenticeship training is on–the-job learning combined with theoretical related instructions. The program allows Veterans who are hired into the company as truck drivers to use some of their GI Bill Benefits provided they still have benefits remaining while completing the program. This Apprenticeship Program is for 1 yr; and once they complete the program they are awarded a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship from the North Carolina Community College System, a wallet card and a Journey Worker Craftsman patch that can be worn on their shirt/jacket. As of last count Epes Transport has had 24 Veterans participate in the Apprenticeship program, which many of them completed. This program has been very beneficial to our company by hiring Veterans that bring a great work ethic, the aptitude to be trained in a structured environment along with being self-motivated. As we continue to move forward with this program Epes Transport remains committed to the hiring of our Veterans making our company not just a great place to work but an awesome family to be a part of. The following drivers have complete the Training Program: Gary Towens, Danny Robinson, Christian Crosslin and Jade Hollomon Please welcome the newest drivers to the Training Program: Curtis Newsome, Kelly Marlow, Marcus Redd, Matthew Fields and Travis Myers Congratulations to everyone on this list!
